  • Discount Conference Calling

Finding discount conference calling is not as difficult as you may think.  Remember when cell phone service was comparable to a small car payment?  I’m happy to say those days are long gone.  Most forms of teleconferencing are dramatically cheaper than they were years ago and the Internet is a great place to start your search. How often you plan to host conference calls and how many clients you plan on inviting on the call play a huge roll in your total monthly cost.   If you don’t need all the bells and whistles than I suggest you explore some of the free conference call providers.  Many are capable of getting the job done.

Before you go out and spend your money on a web conferencing camera make sure you look at your PC to be sure it’s compatible.  Most good web conference call providers will specify the minimum requirements needed in order to achieved decent results but the performance of the PC it’s connected to is just as important.Next week we plan to compare the top 5 web conference cameras so keep a look out.
  • Web Based Conference

The web based conference is quickly becoming the most cost effective and dynamic form of communication for large groups today.  Until recently, the conference call was the most widely used tool for group communication and for good reason.  Long distance rates have taken a nose dive and it’s very easy to get a large number of people on a scheduled call.Take that same conference call and add a slide show or perhaps a video and you have a web based conference and it’s 100% free.  I know what you’re thinking next, the quality will suffer.  Not true, in fact the quality of every web based conference that I’ve participated in had wonderful quality.  In addition, a recent pole suggested that web based conferences had a much higher success rate than standard conference calls in terms of closing sales.  We tested this and found that it increased our closing rate by 40% on a high ticket monthly service.
  • Flat Rate Conference Call

The flat rate conference call service may be your best option if you plan to host several calls per week but its certainly worth making the comparison.  For a few years I was hosting three calls a week and it was far more cost effective to use a flat rate conference call provider vs a  “per minute” plan.  Fortunately it’s pretty easy to crunch the math to see what works.Things to consider when looking at flat rate conference call plans: How many participants are you planning on having on the call (this is one of the biggest factors) How long will your call last How many calls do you plan on hosting a week Toll free options (becoming less of a factor due to today’s low costs)In the end it will come down to a fair price with a quality service.  Much like home and cell plans, the competition is increasing allowing the costs to come down and the quality to only get better.
  • Free Teleconference Calls

Free teleconference calls are easily found on the Internet however finding a service that delivers is another story.  I hate to say it but you really need to read the fine print before you make any commitments.  More often than not you’re going to see a watered down set of features, but honestly, what did you expect for free? There’s several questions that need to be answered before considering a free teleconference call service provider but the most important one will be the number of participants you plan on having on the call.  I was able to use a free teleconference service for the first two years in my business but I’ve since outgrown the plan.If you’re business it too big for a free teleconference provider be careful with the monthly minute plans. Unlike cell phone minutes, you can’t carry them over so be sure to consider this as well.
